Seasoned South African actress and musician Samkelo Ndlovu spilled the tea on how the explicit intimate tlof tlof scenes on Showmax series ‘Adulting’ are created.
‘Adulting’ has been generating buzz on social media, largely due to its explicit ‘tlof tlof’ scenes.
In an interview, the actress opened up about the process behind crafting the steamy scenes in ‘Adulting’ and addressed the question of their authenticity.

Samkelo Ndlovu, who recently joined the ‘Adulting’ series cast to portray the role of Minki, was the latest guest on Mac G’s Podcast and Chill.
Speaking to MacG and Sol Phenduka on the podcast show, Samkelo Ndlovu revealed that the steamy tlof tlof scenes in ‘Adulting’ are not real s_ex scenes. She emphasized that actors and actresses do not engage in real intimate tlof tlof to portray those scenes.
Ndlovu explained that the authenticity of the scenes is achieved through the actors’ skill and talent.
Furthermore, the actress disclosed that there are specific garments worn to prevent arousal during the filming of intimate bedroom scenes. Additionally, a deflated pilates ball is placed between the actors as a physical barrier.
“We are given garments to wear, and women wear what is called a T-string, and you can’t see it, and men wear penis socks. This makes it hard for anyone to actually get an erection. There is also a mini deflated pilates ball which is in-between the two individuals.”
Moreover, Samkelo Ndlovu mentioned the presence of intimacy coaches on set who assist the actors in identifying green and red zones on their bodies, ensuring a safe and comfortable filming environment.

Samkelo also discussed the viral tlof tlof scene on ‘Adulting’ featuring Thembi Seete and ‘BU’ Mthembu, which went viral on X and set social media abuzz. She revealed that the scene, depicting Thembi and BU engaging in intimate activity, was a reenactment of a scene from ‘Baby Boy,’ a 2001 American coming-of-age drama starring Tyrese and Taraji P. Henson.

Samkelo Ndlovu’s Minki’s Character Role
Samkelo Ndlovu opened up about her decision to take on the role of Minki, citing the revolutionary nature of the show as the reason behind her acceptance.
She expressed;
“If the role is not scary enough I am not going to take it. Minki scared me throughout the shoot, I could not chew gum off-set because I found myself taking her off the set. When they first sent me the brief I was shocked that they wanted me to play the Minki character. I then did my research and realised that I get the type of girl she is.”
