Bafana Bafana took a moment to celebrate a goal made by Evidence Makgopa against Morocco by doing the Skomota Dance challenge.
Bafana Bafana delivered a remarkable performance, stunning Morocco 2-0 to secure a spot in the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) quarterfinals at Stade Laurent Pokou on Tuesday.
Evidence Makgopa and Teboho Mokoena scored in the second half, clinching victory for Bafana. The win sets them up for Saturday’s quarterfinal clash against Cape Verde.
Bafana’s Tactical Approach Under Broos
Coach Hugo Broos maintained faith in the same lineup that faced Namibia and Tunisia in the previous two matches. Khuliso Mudau, who had to leave the field in the goalless draw with Tunisia, returned to the starting lineup.
Bafana’s approach was cautious and patient in their build-ups. Mothobi Mvala’s outstanding defensive performance, including well-calculated tackles, thwarted every move by Morocco.
The team aimed to play long balls to Percy Tau and Makgopa, but Morocco’s defence effectively countered these efforts. Bafana, gaining confidence, created opportunities, with Mokoena’s dipping shot from outside the box testing goalkeeper Yassin Bounou.
Makgopa Breaks the Deadlock
Just before the hour mark, Evidence Makgopa and Themba Zwane beat the offside trap to score the opening goal. His teammates could not hide their excitement as they celebrated the goal before sealing the celebration with the trending Skomota dance challenge before resuming the game.

With time running out, Hakimi missed a penalty, and Morocco’s frustration escalated. Sofyan Amrabat received a straight red card for fouling Teboho Mokoena, who subsequently converted a free kick, securing a 2-0 victory for Bafana Bafana.
