Gwabeni Challenges State’s Case
Mziwethemba Gwabeni, one of the accused in the murders of renowned rapper AKA and his associate Tibz, has expressed doubts regarding the strength of the state’s case against him. During a court appearance in Durban, Gwabeni highlighted the perceived weakness in the evidence presented by the prosecution. He questioned the rationale behind the absence of charges against Mfundo Gcaba, emphasizing the lack of transparency from the state regarding their decision.

Gwabeni stated, “If the state honestly believed this and if it had any evidence, not conjecture, then I would have expected Gcaba would have been arrested and would have been a co-accused. The fact is he is not a co-accused and the state has not taken this court into its confidence and disclosed why they have chosen not to arrest him.”

Gcaba’s Involvement Unveiled
The revelation of Mfundo Gcaba’s connection to the AKA and Tibz murder case has raised eyebrows among the public. Gcaba’s role emerged when it was discovered that he had deposited a substantial amount into Gwabeni’s account shortly after AKA’s demise. Gwabeni subsequently distributed these funds among other implicated individuals.
According to court documents, Gwabeni disbursed a total of R665,000 to his associates while retaining the remaining R138,455. Gcaba defended these transactions, claiming they were payments for previous services rendered by the accused.
