Amanda du Pont Urged To Drop Rape Charges Against Jub Jub
Actress Amanda du Pont has been urged to drop and let go of the rape charges she laid against Uyajola 9/9 presenter Jub Jub.
The public plea was made by the founder and chairperson of Limpopo Arts Foundation, Mandla Maseko. Maseko believes that if Jub Jub, born Molemo Maarohanye, goes back to jail, he might never come out.
Amanda du Pont Accuses Jub Jub Of Rape
Jub Jub, a well-known TV presenter and rapper, was arrested on Thursday on charges of rape, attempted murder, and assault.
These offences were allegedly committed between 2006 and 2009 and involved four complainants. One of the complainants is du Pont, a model and presenter, who was in a romantic relationship with Jub Jub at the time.
Du Pont has claimed that she was raped by Jub Jub multiple times during their relationship and that she attempted to report the matter at Mondeor SAPS back then but was turned away. She decided to approach the police again after Jub Jub made degrading comments about her on Podcast And Chill last year.
Jub Jub has denied the allegations against him, saying that du Pont engineered them in retaliation for his remark on the podcast. He said he apologised for his remark, which he did not mean to offend her with. He also accused her of recruiting other women against him.
Mandla Maseko Appeals To Amanda du Pont
Maseko, who is a friend and supporter of Jub Jub, said he was saddened by the news of his arrest. He said he understood the pain and trauma that du Pont and the other women might have gone through, but he also asked them to forgive Jub Jub and give him a chance to redeem himself.
Maseko said Jub Jub had already served his time for his previous conviction of culpable homicide, for which he spent four years in prison. He said Jub Jub had changed his ways and was using his platform to expose infidelity and social ills on his show Uyajola 9/9.
Maseko said he hoped that du Pont and the other women would reconsider their decision and drop the charges against Jub Jub. He said he believed that Jub Jub loved du Pont and still wished to be with her. He said he was praying for both of them to find peace and healing.
Jub Jub’s Next Court Appearance
Jub Jub was released on bail of R10 000 on Thursday, following an unopposed bail hearing. He will be back in court on 24 August 2023.
