Swae Lee Sets the Record Straight on Amapiano Tweet
Responding to the backlash, Swae Lee clarify his intentions and address the accusations.
“woooooah I never said anything about who was the first guys I just said wait until y’all hear my amapiano songs 🧐 y’all reached for that one.”
He went on to reveal the reason why he put a Nigerian flag on his tweet.
“For the ones outraged about the flag I put it because I’m part Nigerian I didn’t say anything about the creation of the genre y’all tweaking”
In a video he posted on his Twitter account, the Unforgettable singer explained that he had been introduced to Amapiano by Nigerians and that he holds deep respect for the originators of the genre.
He emphasized that his tweet was not meant to discredit anyone or undermine the South African contribution to Amapiano.
“I never discredited nobody, sorry y’all read it that way. I never said anything about its origins in that tweet
“I was just letting my fans know I’m tapped in and been cooking some amapiano style songs. Salute to the history of amapiano and the first creators of it. I’m not taking that away from anybody. Much love and stay tuned,” Swae Lee explained.
