“Arrest Her”| Dr. Pashy’s Legal Threats Against Minister Motsoaledi Draws Criticism From South Africans
Dr. Pashy has faced criticism from South African Twitter users following her decision to threaten Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi with a defamation lawsuit.
Dr. Mmereka Patience Martha Ntshani, an anesthesiologist who also known as Dr. Pashy, has issued a cease and desist letter to Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi regarding his comments about her in relation to the escape of convicted rapist and murderer Thabo Bester.
During a press briefing on April 14th, Minister Aaron Motsoaledi raised questions about why Dr. Nandipha Magudumana had possession of Dr. Pashy’s passports.
These travel documents were discovered in Dr. Nandipha’s luggage when she and Thabo Bester were arrested near the Kenyan border. It was also revealed that Dr. Nandipha had used Dr. Pashy’s identity as an alias during their escape from the country.
Dr. Nandipha has since appeared in court four times, with the most recent appearance on May 11th.
The Minister also stated that Dr. Pashy had provided inconsistent accounts of how she lost her passport in 2019.
Initially, she had informed the police that her passport had been stolen. However, when she reported the matter to the police on March 27th of this year, she claimed that she had given her passport to Dr. Nandipha Magudumana and TK Nkwana (who was later identified as Thabo Bester), with the intention of obtaining a work permit in the United States.
SABC journalist Chriselda Lewis confirmed on May 12th that Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi has been served with legal papers by Dr. Pashy.
Dr. Pashy argues that the Minister’s statements have made false insinuations and contributed to baseless allegations that she assisted Dr. Nandipha and Bester in their escape.
She further states that the Minister’s comments and social media posts have resulted in some of her colleagues being hesitant or even refusing to work with her.
In the letter, Dr. Pashy demands a formal retraction and public apology from the Minister within five days of the letter’s issue date, which was May 8th. She has threatened legal action if the Minister does not comply with her demands.
South Africans did not take Dr Pashy’s letter lightly and accused her of being an attention seeker. They called on authorities to arrest her. Check out their comments below:
