Babes And Mampitsha’s Reality Show Put On Hold
Gqom duo; Babes Wodumo and Mampintsha’s reality show; Uthando Lodumo has been postponed due to Covid-19 lockdown 3 regulations.
The reality show was set to air on Showmax this year about the musician’s relationship.
Showmax issued a statement 4days ago confirming that the couple’s highly anticipated reality show; Uthando Lodumo has been delayed due to the country’s level 3 lockdown regulations.
According to Showmax’s statement, because of the show centering around Babes and her fiance’s wedding, the national lockdown prevented them from continuing with their plans as all gatherings are prohibited.
This means that the couple will not be allowed to legally have any attendance for their white wedding and they’ll have to wait until everything is cleared.
The couple shocked everyone when they got engaged last year on Gagasi FM and announced their reality show.
A speechless and excited Babes started this after being proposed:
“Within a blink of an eye and now I’m left speechless. The journey wasn’t easy but we stuck together through thick and thin.”
Fans of the Gqom duo were looking forward to seeing the star couple gracing their screens with their latest reality TV show Uthando Lodumo which was meant to premiere on Showmax in Feb of this year.
Though it’s no secret that their relationship has been filled with controversy, the show was meant to offer another perspective of their rocky past, the whole purpose of Uthando Lodumo was to focus on the next phase of their lives. The couple was looking forward to opening up about their rollercoaster past and to show a more human side to the whirlwind romance.
Multichoice Channel Director, Nomsa Philiso stated:
“Babes and Mampitsha’s relationship has not been a fairy tale romance. They’ve had serious issues as a couple, yet have chosen to remain together. The show focuses on how they have overcome their challenges, working through them with their families.”
The show was meant to tackle gender-based-violence as Mampitsha was rumored to have physically and emotionally abused Babes.
Philiso further stated:
“We do not condone any form of abuse or GBV, but we believe that South Africans need to start talking honestly about these issues and confront them.”
It is unclear from the couple, Multichoice and Showmax when the reality show will be aired at this stage as the country is placed on lockdown level three and it’s going through the second wave of Covid-19.
