The upcoming concert aimed at raising funds to repurchase the late singer Zahara’s Roodepoort house has been marred by controversy.

Accusations have arisen against Zahara’s older sister, Bandezwa Mkutukana-Febana, alleging that she has sidelined the singer’s band members.

Band Members Speak Out

Zahara’s band members, who have been with her since the inception of her career, are speaking out against her older sister, Bandezwa Mkutukana-Febana.

According to Zimoja, they are accuse Bandezwa of excluding them from the concert preparations, alleging that decisions are being made without their input. According to sources within the band, Bandezwa’s actions have caused a rift within Zahara’s inner circle, with some feeling marginalized and overlooked.

The source further alleged that Bandezwa had terminated contracts with key members, including Zahara’s cousin Oyama Dyosiba, who served as her manager.

The concert, hosted by former Scandal! actress Lusanda Mbane is set to feature renowned artists Khanyisa Sabuka, Butho Vuthela, Ivory Sikepe, Nathi Mankayi, and Zahara’s best friend Vusi Nova.

Howecer, reports circulating within the music industry shed light on the financial challenges facing the charity concert. Allegations of unpaid venue fees and reduced artist fees have fueled speculation and concern. It’s reported that while the event’s organizers have secured the Orient Theatre in East London for the concert, payments for the venue have yet to be finalized. Additionally, artists slated to perform at the event may receive significantly lower fees than their usual booking rates, leading to questions about the transparency and sustainability of the fundraising efforts.

Ongoing Efforts to Save Zahara’s Home

The concert aims to raise funds to repurchase Zahara’s Roodepoort home, which was recently auctioned off due to her financial struggles. Despite previous fundraising initiatives and assistance from a prominent donor, the house was sold to Marten Bekker. However, Bekker allowed Zahara to remain in the property for a few months as she attempted to raise the necessary funds to reclaim ownership.
