Build One South Africa (BOSA) leader Mmusi Maimane got into a scuffle with DJ Shimza online following the trickling in of election results.
The Election Results That Got Mzansi Talking
The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) announced the official 2024 election results yesterday. In the national ballot, the ANC got 159 seats (-71), DA had 87 (+3), MK garnered 58, and the EFF got 39 seats (-5).
Maimane’s BOSA, a new kid on the block, got two national assembly seats and one in the provincial legislature. Mmusi was grateful:
“We going to parliament. We thank South Africa for trusting BuildOneSA. We will not let you down. I will work and talk with South African leaders who want to build our nation. Now is the time we fix what is broken, heal our nation and ensure we build a prosperous future for all of us.”
The Spat Between Mmusi Maimane And DJ Shimza
Last week, DJ Shimza publicly threw his support to the ANC, much to the disdain of tweeps. Musi bashed Shimza:
“You’re the biggest beneficiary. DJ Tinstwalo wama tender. You have more tenders than hits.”
Shimza is in a relationship with Athi Geleba, President Cyril Ramaphosa’s head of digital communications. In 2021, the Public Service Commission (PSC) investigated how DJ Shimza’s Tembisa restaurant allegedly won a R150,000 government gig without going to tender or being in the Department of Tourism’s database.

Maimane And Shimza Unrelenting
After Maimane got three seats, Shimza laughed at him, saying South Africans rejected him. The BOSA leader clapped back:
“Fikile Mbalula is crying tears. Go and comfort him and Athi. I am going to parliament, and I still have more bangers than you have hits DJ Tintswalo.”
Shimza was not backing down:
“Bring your celebration to @thehangawt. I’m sure it’s big enough for you and your WhatsApp group triple M, Mmusi Number Msila Maimane 😊”
Maimane shot back:
“Do after tears for Ramaphosa there. No more tenders for you, just your chubby, tender face. Don’t test me again. I have shoes to polish for my swearing in ceremony, I have schools and clinics to build, go manicure Mbaks, he needs it.
