Bow Wow Receives Backlash For Performing At Packed Club Amid COVID-19 Pandemic

Bow Wow has never been the one to keep the rules and now he finds himself in trouble. The rapper is the latest celebrity to get lots of criticism for appearing to go against COVID-19 safety guidelines.

On Friday 15th, the rapper, and actor performed for a packed crowd. The 33-year-old rapper shared posts on his Instagram story and showed a video from the concert that showed wall-to-wall fans. In one clip, Bow could be heard performing his 2005 hit, “Like You.”

Many fans and critics quickly shared their disappointment with Bow Wow, and the people who went to go see him. Bow took to Twitter to respond to concerns and cleared the air with fans. He said,

“I promise [I wore] my mask… in the club up until I got on the mic. That simple. [I] keep sanitizer on me at all times.”

He continued to justify by tweeting,

“Man texas is open. Atl is open. I can’t help i live in a city where we been open since last spring.” He added, “That’s the thing IT WASN’T MY PARTY. But of course ima get the blame.”

Houston Mayor Turner called out the Growing Up Hip Hop Atlanta star. He tweeted,

“These events that are scheduled with @BowWowPromoTeam today in Houston are on our radar,” Turner said. “Other bars/clubs that are operating as restaurants, beyond capacity and social distancing requirements, please expect visits. Today we report 1,964 new cases and 17 more deaths.”

 

The rapper also took to Twitter to respond, “Safe to say the mayor of Houston hates my guts. I can’t believe I get the blame for a whole weekend. This is ridiculous.”
