A bruised Mihlali Ndamase has revealed details about the abuse she suffered from her boyfriend, Leeroy Sidambe, taking responsibility for her role in the “toxic relationship”.
Mihlali Ndamase recently accused her ex-boyfriend, Leeroy Sidambe, of abuse. The controversy began on 5 August 2024, when Mihlali posted photos on Instagram showing bruises on her face, which she later deleted. She hinted Leeroy caused the injuries during a physical altercation.
Mihlali Takes Responsibility For Her Role In Her Abusive And Toxic Relationship With Leeroy Sidambe
The influencer has released a statement explaining what happened between her and Leeroy. In the black-and-white video, she had visible scars below her eye and forehead.
Mihlali revealed:
“I come before you today with a heavy heart and a sense of responsibility to address the matter that has been circulating and has deeply affected me. It was with great vulnerability that I admit I was involved in a toxic relationship. This relationship started verbally and emotionally harmful, and matters quickly escalated to it being physically harmful.
“I, unlike others, can take full accountability for my involvement in the toxic dynamic. One can only keep quiet for so long after tolerating gaslighting, aggression, emotional abuse, manipulation, obsessive behaviour and control tactics employed by an individual.
“Tactics used to distort my perception of love, which led me down a path of pain and torment. The scars of this experience run deep, and the trauma continues to echo in my personal life and my business.”
Mihlali said she is putting the episode behind her and going through the process of healing and getting help.

The Drama Behind The Scenes
When Mihlali raised the abuse allegations, she stated that she had recordings and voice notes as proof of Leeroy’s abusive behaviour.
Leeroy, on the other hand, denied the allegations, claiming that Mihlali had a history of assaulting him. He alleged that the bruises she displayed were a result of him defending himself when she attempted to stab him during a confrontation about his alleged infidelity. Leeroy also mentioned that Mihlali had left numerous missed calls and arrived at his house in a rage, leading to the altercation.
