Burna Boy Johannesburg Concert Officially Cancelled as Law Enforcement Authorities Probe Promoter

The Burna Boy Johannesburg concert saga keeps getting more complicated, resembling a suspenseful thriller. In the latest update, Burna Boy’s South Africa concert has been officially cancelled after initially being postponed.

Originally, Burna Boy was set to perform in South Africa at the FNB Stadium during the Heritage Weekend as part of his Africa tour. However, the concert was pushed to December 16, partly because of low ticket sales, as Ticket Pro revealed in a statement on Tuesday. Burna Boy, however, denied that the postponement was due to low ticket sales.

Now, the latest news is that Burna Boy won’t be coming to South Africa at all, as his concert has been cancelled. The reasons given for the cancellation include the promoters’ inability to meet their contractual, financial, production, and technical obligations.

It turns out that the production vendors were not paid on time, and the concert’s production standards, suitable for the venue’s size, couldn’t be met. TicketPro has halted ticket sales for the event, and details about ticket refunds will be provided later.

Promoter Controversy

This cancellation follows closely on the heels of the CEO of Ternary Media Group, the promoters responsible for bringing Burna Boy to South Africa, being fired and placed under investigation by local law enforcement authorities. Although the press statement doesn’t specify the charges against the CEO, it mentions they are related to the Burna Boy concert in Johannesburg. Here’s the statement:

Ternary Media Group, a prominent entertainment company, announces a leadership transition following recent events involving Mr. Sedote Nwachukwu, the former CEO. Due to pending legal proceedings related to an upcoming Burna Boy concert in Johannesburg, the event has been postponed.

In light of the allegations of misconduct, Ternary Media Group has relieved Mr Nwachukwu of his CEO responsibilities until further notice. The company remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and accountability.

Ternary Media Group is actively cooperating with the authorities in their investigation. The company regrets any inconvenience caused to fans and stakeholders and is exploring options to reschedule the Burna Boy concert at a later date.

The company appreciates the ongoing support and will provide updates as the situation unfolds.
