Chris Brown Unfazed by Calls to Cancel South African Concerts, Responds to Petition

American superstar Chris Brown remains steadfast in his plans to perform in South Africa this December, despite mounting pressure from Women For Change, a non-profit organization advocating for women’s rights.

The group has initiated a petition aimed at stopping his concerts due to his controversial past. However, Brown has made it clear that he intends to perform.

Petition Calls for Concert Cancellation

Women For Change has launched a petition urging the concert organizer, Big Concerts, and the event’s sponsors to cancel Brown’s performances at Johannesburg’s FNB Stadium, scheduled for December 14 and 15. Additionally, the group has called on the Department of Home Affairs to revoke his visa.

The petition, which had gathered over 36,954 signatures at the time of writing, highlights concerns about Brown’s history of violence toward women. “Chris Brown has a well-documented history of violence towards several women.

In 2009, he was convicted of brutally assaulting his then-girlfriend, Rihanna, a case that sparked global outrage. Despite his conviction, his troubling behavior has continued, with multiple accusations of violence against other women,” the petition states.

Chris Brown’s Response

Chris Brown, however, has not been deterred by the growing movement against him. Responding directly to the Women For Change post, he left a brief but firm comment:

Can’t wait to come.”

The singer also took to his personal social media account, posting a photo of himself wearing a balaclava with a South African print, accompanied by the caption,

I’m stepping on sh*t,” a statement that seems to reflect his determination to go ahead with the performances.
