Caught in a Melody Mess: Jub Jub Accused of Stealing a Song From A University Student
In a stunning turn of events, TV presenter and rapper Jub Jub has been accused of stealing a song belonging to a University of Johannesburg student, Zethembe Nkosi.
Jub Jub Accused of Stealing Hit Track ‘Ngiyaz’fela’
TikTok user Zethembe Nkosi claims that Jub Jub appropriated his song “Ngiyaz’fela,” releasing it under his record label without consent and reaping royalties, leaving Zethembe in dire financial straits.
Zethembe’s cries for help flooded social media, where his story went viral, eliciting sympathy and outrage from netizens.
According to Briefly, he lamented that the song hit over 1 million streams, equating to around R80K, which would have provided him with much financial relief as a struggling student with no NSFAS backing.
Despite his attempts to reach out to Jub Jub, the aspiring artist alleges that the rapper blocked him on all social media platforms, leaving him feeling betrayed and helpless. Zethembe shared his plight, stating:
“I’ve been receiving DMs from lawyers, but they want money upfront to open a file before working on my case, and at the moment I don’t even have funding. I don’t even have food at my place as we speak, but I have a big song on the internet, so it’s bad.”
