Close Call with Destiny: Uzalo Actor and Gqom Artists Survive Terrifying Car Crash

Uzalo actor Bhekisizwe Mahlawe and Gqom artists Bhar and Sosha Ngcobo made it out alive after a bad car crash on Saturday night while they were headed to a gig in Hillcrest.

Uzalo Actor Relives Car Crash

Mahlawe, who plays Njeza on Uzalo, said that another car hit them at an intersection, causing their car to spin out of control. He added they were lucky to be wearing seat belts; otherwise, things could have been much worse. Although their car was wrecked, Mahlawe said they were just thankful to be okay.

“I am still in shock and pain, but I thank God for saving our lives. The car is replaceable, but life is more precious and valuable,” he said.

Gqom Artists Lucky To Be Alive

Bhar and Sosha Ngcobo, known for hits like Thando and Ngiyabonga Baba, also shared their relief at surviving the crash. They sustained some bruises and injuries but said they were recovering fine. Unfortunately, one of their friends who was also in the car is still in bad shape and needs prayers.

“Please pray for our friend who is still fighting for his life in hospital. He was the most injured in the accident, and we hope he will pull through. We also want to thank our fans and supporters for their love and messages. We appreciate you all,” they said.

All three are well-known figures in Durban’s entertainment scene. Mahlawe has been part of Uzalo since 2019 and appeared in other shows like Durban Gen and Isibaya. Bhar and Sosha Ngcobo have been making a name for themselves in the Gqom music industry since 2017 and have worked with artists like DJ Tira, Dladla Mshunqisi, and Tipcee.

They’ve been nominated for awards like the South African Music Awards (SAMAs) and the Metro FM Music Awards (MMA). They recently released a new single called Umthandazo Wami with vocalist Lindiwe Mkhize.
