DA’s Congratulations to Miss South Africa 2023 Natasha Joubert Sparks Firestorm of Controversy

The Democratic Alliance (DA) has found itself under heavy criticism after congratulating Natasha Joubert on being crowned Miss SA 2023.

Natasha Joubert, a 26-year-old from Tshwane in Gauteng, was crowned Miss SA 2023 on Sunday evening at Sun Bet Arena at Time Squares Menlyn, Tshwane.

DA Congratulates Miss South Africa 2023 And Ignites Firestorm

Naturally, congratulatory messages flooded in for Natasha Joubert. The DA’s congratulatory message to Natasha on Twitter caught the attention of the social media platform’s users.

Taking to their verified Twitter account, DA congratulated Natasha Joubert for being crowned Miss SA 2023.

“Congratulations to our newly crowned Miss South Africa 2023, Natasha Joubert. #MissSA2023,” the DA wrote on its Twitter account.

South Africans Not Pleased With DA’s Gesture

A section of South African Twitter users took offence to the DA’s congratulatory message to Miss SA 2023. They accused the DA of being racist and pointed out that they had not congratulated previous Miss SA winners because of their skin colour.

@Noxza_dube:

Domkop Alliance congratulates Boers only. When it’s blacks you pretend as if it was a funeral.

@SciTheComedist:

From 2019 u never bothered to congratulate others….Isn’t that weird??😂😂

@sthedoingthings:

I like how DA shows itself that it only support white related things. But you’ll find black people going to the polls to vote for it . Then you see where the problem is.

@BBK29_:

Is kind of weird that this is the first time you congratulate the winner🫢🫢🫢🫢🫢 The last time you did it, it was ancient ages ago when a white person won the competition…Is true that the @Our_DA only congratulate based on merits

@Makhido:

Please post congratulations that you issued when Zozi Tunzi and Nokeri were crowned Ms SAs. If you did not congratulate them, then you can’t shake the racism tag sitting firmly on the party’s shoulders
