The devastating incident led to the loss of Buthelezi’s entire family, prompting a swift response from the DA KZN Provincial leader, Francois Rodgers. In an official statement, Rodgers expressed the party’s shock at the arrest, revealing that they had previously visited Buthelezi in the hospital. At that time, the party accused the police of not taking the case seriously and suggested it was a deliberate attack on their councillor.

DA’s Reaction and Allegations

Rodgers explained that, following thorough investigations, he was notified of Buthelezi’s arrest by the provincial police commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi. The councillor had been identified as a prime suspect in the ongoing police investigations. Despite the shocking turn of events, the DA in the province maintains its stance, calling for a comprehensive probe into the matter and emphasizing the importance of holding those involved accountable. The party insists on letting the law take its course in this case and others related to it.
