The future of the Big Nuz brand hangs in the balance as the last surviving member, Danger, is contemplating quitting.

Since the passing of his bandmates, Sibusiso “R Mashesha” Khumo in 2015 and Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo two years ago, Danger, born Mzingisi Tshomela, has reportedly felt increasingly isolated and dissatisfied at Afrotainment, the record label owned by Mthokozi “DJ Tira” Khathi.

Sources close to the situation reveal that Danger is deeply unhappy at Afrotainment and has even asked DJ Tira to release him from his contract.

Two sources told Zimoja:

“He asked DJ Tira to release him from his contract. It does not seem like DJ Tira is interested in Big Nuz anymore without the other members who are no more. The group brought a lot of money to Afrotainment since the 2009 album Undisputed with the hit songs Umlilo and Superman. Today, DJ Tira has forgotten about all that. He doesn’t have time for Danger because the outspoken member, Mampintsha, is no more.”

Despite the challenges, Danger has been performing alongside fellow Kwaito artist Bhar, a co-founder of Big Nuz, to keep the group’s spirit alive. However, it seems the partnership has not met Danger’s expectations. He has also been working with various up-and-coming Gqom artists, hoping to revive his career, but success has been elusive.

“It’s not like DJ Tira has not done anything for Danger. In 2018, DJ Tira featured in Danger’s solo project Dangerous, but the song was not well received by the fans of Big Nuz,” the insider spewed.

Failing To Revive The Thrill

Frustration has reportedly taken its toll on Danger as he continues to grapple with the uncertainty of his future in the music industry:

“He has been recording with some unknown artists. The man is frustrated that he doesn’t know what to do anymore. He needs to make money and there are no gigs coming in. He has a family to support but it’s tough for Danger.”

Attempts to reach Danger for comment were unsuccessful, and DJ Tira did not respond to calls or WhatsApp inquiries.
