For years, the former VUZU presenter refrained from discussing the real reasons behind her highly publicized divorce. However, she has now revealed how her closest confidante allegedly contributed to the breakdown of her marriage.
A Shocking Revelation
Denise took to social media to express her pain and disbelief over the betrayal. She shared,
“There’s nothing worse than discovering that your best friend of 22 years has been having an affair with your husband.”
She further revealed that this former friend, Mpumi Mdluli, avoided her during critical moments of her life, including her pregnancy and major celebrations like her bridal and baby showers.

To underline her point, Denise posted a wedding photo featuring her ex-husband and Mpumi, captioning it,
“These pictures hit differently now. The day of my wedding, your speech—just two years ago. Little did I know.”
Her candid post left fans heartbroken, with many urging her to keep private matters off social media. Meanwhile, Mpumi and Jakob have chosen to remain silent despite repeated attempts to obtain their comments.
The Pain of Betrayal
Denise revealed further details of the betrayal, recounting a deeply humiliating incident where she caught her ex-husband engaging in inappropriate behaviour while on a phone call with another woman. Other troubling signs also emerged, such as his refusal to cover the cost of a flight for her mother to visit them in Germany to assist with their children, while he willingly spent €900 on a veterinary bill for his cat.
“Walking away was the best decision I ever made for myself,” Denise admitted. “In the past year alone, I lost the family I worked so hard to build. Friends I thought I could trust turned out to be disloyal in ways I can’t even comprehend. The people I cherished most abandoned me and didn’t choose me.”
