DJ Fresh, Euphonik acquitted of rape allegations

Former 947 DJs, Euphonik and DJ Fresh have been acquitted of rape charges leveled against them by Ms. Madikizeka.

A few weeks ago the plaintiff accused the two renowned DJs of raping her a couple of years ago when she was still a student at one of the local universities in Pretoria .

However, the two DJs denied the allegations and even decided to step aside from all public engagements including 947 and this was prior to their dismissal from the radio station just a few days ago. Regardless, the duo have since issued a public statement stating they have been acquitted of all charges over lack of evidence,

“we are pleased to state that, after considering all the evidence collected while investigating the claim made by Ms. Madikizela against us, the Chief Prosecutor has dismissed the allegations on the basis that the allegations are without merit. The docket has been marked NOLLE PROSEQUI. As we have said before, these are false allegations and we are deeply saddened that GBV, a serious crisis in South Africa, was weaponised in this manner. A huge thank you to all of our family, friends, supporters and to our legal team.”

Although the matter has been laid to rest for now, the pair have some GBV priors, with Euphonik having been accused of physically abusing former girlfriend Bonang Matheba and DJ Fresh accused of rape by musician-cum-poet, Ntisiki Mazwai who has since weighed on the statement issued out by the pair,

“been vomiting for past(sic) two hours feeling so ill. My body reacted so badly to injustice(sic). Revealing a rape victim’s identity should be a criminal offense, you are deliberately exposing them to attacks. We remember Winnie Madikizela Mandela and how we didn’t stand up for her, and we will correct that.”
