Producer and record label boss DJ Maphorisa has dropped receipts following accusations that he is robbing vocalist Sir Trill.
The Backstory To The Whole Drama
For a while now, people have accused Phori of having a grudge and ripping off Sir Trill. Last year, when Sir Trill took to X to vent:
“It’s tiring and mentally damaging. So many hits and I’ve never seen a cent. I’m tired. Never been an artist that talks much or exposes much. This will definitely be a joke to some of y’all. Which I understand. But it’s mentally damaging and exhausting. What are we working so much for?”
Since bursting onto the scene on Hosh by Prince Kaybee, the talented vocalist has had many songs with DJ Maphorisa and artists in his stable, like Banyana. At one time, Sir Trill revealed, without mentioning his name, that DJ Maphorisa vowed to sabotage him because he refused to sign to the producer’s label.
Last month, Trill vented on Instagram, insinuating that Maphorisa influenced T-Man Xpress to pull out of his song with Heavy K, Kwenzakalani. He also accused Phori of releasing a song with a similar name. Days later, Maphorisa dropped an Instagram video with Kabza De Small, dancing to a song titled Kwenzakalani.
Last week, Sir Trill appeared on rapper L-Tido’s podcast and revealed that he is not receiving royalties from his songs. His situation is so bad that sometimes he doesn’t have food to eat. He fingered “Grootman” for eating the whole piece of his cake but could not reveal who he was:
“I would get a call from my manager telling me my song is playing on Netflix. So I’d call the dude to find out what’s going on, and they’d always tell me they’re busy.
“That’s when I realised that I needed a publisher, who later told me that that broer took 100% of everything. Now, when I start demanding my money, you start getting mad because I caught you; then you start blackballing me.”

DJ Maphorisa Responds To Allegations Of Robbing Sir Trill, War Erupts
After the flurry of accusations, DJ Maphorisa took to X to explain. He shared a bank statement showing that he sent Sir Trill money.
Maphorisa clarified:
“Maybe he’s talking about other Grootmans 💔 this young man needs help. I remember him not going to the Music Video ya De Mthuda John Wick. I knew we gonna have a problem here. Self-sabotage n Karma from all the promoters u f*cked not pitching those gigs. N F*CK L-Tido Ny**ao san.”
L-Tido did not take the insult lightly:
“Phori you a f*cken coward. M***te a gao. I literally didn’t say shit about you. Deal with the people you robbing, not me.”
