Dr Nandipha Magudumana Denied Bail, Magistrate Points To Viral Stunning Look
Renowned celebrity doctor and accused con artist Dr Nandipha Magudumana will remain incarcerated as the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court has rejected her bail application.
Dr Nandipha was caught in Tanzania last April alongside her boyfriend, Thabo Bester. He is a convicted rapist who had previously feigned his demise at the Mangaung Correctional Centre and escaped in May 2022. Dr Nandipha is alleged to have played a role in coordinating Bester’s escape, earning her the label of a mastermind according to the prosecution.

In the ruling, Magistrate Estelle De Lange stated that Dr Nandipha Magudumana is a substantial flight risk:
“The applicant is a flight risk, and no bail conditions will assist. I find that she didn’t satisfy the Court that she be released on bail. When she left, she knew she wouldn’t come back. The evidence points out that she left the country voluntarily. I find she is definitely a flight risk, and there are no bail conditions to limit this risk.
“She didn’t satisfy the Court that she should be released. Therefore, the bail application is denied. I’m of the opinion bail conditions will NOT be enough to make her stand her trial. She will have more means to help Bester to escape. If she is released, she could facilitate another escape if she wants to.”

The court also noted that Dr Nandipha failed to present any compelling arguments in support of her bail application. Magistrate De Lange remarked that Dr Nandipha consistently appeared well-groomed and in good health during her court appearances, suggesting that her needs were adequately met while in detention.
“Apart from saying she was kidnapped by Bester, there is nothing she brought forward to support that. The State, on the other hand, brought evidence to the contrary. Whenever she appeared, she was in good health and well-groomed. I’m sure her needs are met where she is detained. I have never received any concern about that.”
