Dr Nandipha Magudumana’s brother, Nkosinathi Sekeleni, was reportedly paid R30,000 for participating in the Showmax documentary “Tracking Thabo Bester”.

Drama And Court Intrigue Hounding The Showmax Documentary

The documentary unravels the life of Thabo Bester, a convicted rapist and murderer, and the circumstances surrounding his prison escape. Dr Nandipha Magudumana and Bester sought to halt the documentary’s airing, citing concerns over potential prejudice to their rights to a fair trial. The Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg dismissed their urgent bid, which ruled that the broadcast would not result in real trial prejudice.

Later, Sikeleni boozed heavily and demanded R100,000 so he would not spill more secrets on Dr Nandipha. However, the doctor bluntly turned him down.

In a court affidavit, Sekeleni revealed that Idea Candy, the documentary’s producer, approached him in April 2023, days after Dr Nandipha and Thabo Bester’s capture in Tanzania.

Sikeleni revealed:

“It is thus clear from clause four of the agreement that I was paid R30 000. This amount was in exchange for the exclusive rights I granted Idea Candy to conduct, record, and broadcast the documentary, not for commercial gain or any manner.”
