Uzalo has been going through a bid of a transformation behind the scenes. At the beginning of November, the rumour mill went wild after the news that Menzi Biyela and Nompilo Maphumulo, who play Pastor Gwala and Nosipho, were reportedly let go from the show.
The story is that their contracts won’t be renewed for the next season.
Gela, on the other hand, is said to have left the show due to contractual disputes.
Daily Sun reported that Omuhle told the show producers that she relocated to KZN because of the offer, unaware that her contract would be changed.
Omuhle’s character Nomaswazi is an essential part of the Magwaza plot point as she plays the daughter of Njnji, who is Nkunzebombu Mhlongo and now Putin. Nomaswazi is a dangerous young lady whom no one sees coming but makes very bold moves.
According to reports, Fanele Ntuli has taken over as the new Nomaswazi Magwaza.
Sources from the show Uzalo said that the contract between Fanele and the show had been finalized.
It is said that once the prerecorded parts Gela has done are aired, viewers could prepare to see the new Nomaswazi, Fanele.
Ntuli played Doctor Zondo on Durban Gen.
The show has been cancelled and sources say that Uzalo said that she was fortunate to get the part of Nomaswazi when she did because many of her ex-colleagues from Durban Gen have been left frustrated by the cancellation of the show.
Gela had just played Nomaswazi for only six months on Uzalo.
