Employee Faces The Music For Stealing At DJ Zinhle’s Shop
Thabile Malatjie (23), a former employee of DJ Zinhle, real name Ntombezinhle Jiyane, will face legal consequences for the alleged theft of merchandise from Era by DJ Zinhle, the businesswoman’s shop.
Malatjie has been accused of stealing goods with an undisclosed value. Despite denying any involvement in the theft, she was apprehended after the stolen stock was discovered at her residence.
Lumka Mahanjana, the spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), confirmed that Malatjie appeared before the Hatfield Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
In an attempt to resolve the matter outside of court, Malatjie sought mediation, but this request was unsuccessful, leading to the continuation of the prosecution process.
“However, the mediation was refused by the senior public prosecutor,” Mahanjana said.
Malatjie is facing a charge of theft.
Mahanjana said:
“It is alleged that the accused was employed at Era by DJ Zinhle and stole stock worth an unverified amount of money.”
On January 12, Malatjie was arrested and later released on bail of R5,000. The trial has been scheduled for July 24.
This incident is not the first occurrence of an employee stealing from DJ Zinhle. Approximately a year ago, the renowned deejay lodged a complaint against another former staff member who was accused of stealing an estimated amount of half a million rands.
Phumzile Diko made an appearance at the Protea Magistrate’s Court on charges of fraud. It is alleged that Diko stole R500,000 from DJ Zinhle’s business account.
According to Phindi Mjonondwane, the spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Diko was employed in the accounts department of DJ Zinhle’s company at the time of the incident.
DJ Zinhle is a talented and versatile DJ, renowned for her skills in the industry. She is also the star of her own reality television show titled “DJ Zinhle: The Unexpected.”
In addition to her successful career in music, she has established a thriving business empire with diverse interests, including a watch and accessory line known as Era by DJ Zinhle. The brand operates stores located in the Mall of Africa and Newtown.
