In a recent interview seen by The South African, he bared the harsh truth of his financial collapse, disclosing that he squandered his millions on fleeting pleasures—lavish cars, excessive alcohol, and a lifestyle beyond his means.

“I blew all my money on useless things because I was always guaranteed a salary the following month. I used to afford expensive things. When the Golf V came out, I bought it without thinking twice. And as you know, women will always be there, but my main problem was booze,” Chabangu ruefully admitted, citing impulsive purchases and a lifestyle driven by instant gratification.

The temptations that accompanied his fame, the allure of indulgence in alcohol and extravagant nights out, became an inescapable routine that ultimately led to his downfall.

We used to finish training by 11 am, and thereafter, you are free to do whatever you want. We would go to Shisanyama after training and chill there over a few drinks, and it just became a habit,” Lerato Chabangu asserted.
