Her cousin, Itumeleng Motloung (35), told The Daily Sun Puseletso had not returned from work on Tuesday, 20 August, and her cellphone was off.

“I was worried about her whereabouts when she didn’t return home,” Itumeleng said.

Before heading to work that day, Puseletso had mentioned that she would stop by her friend’s place to take a bath.

When Puseletso failed to come home, Itumeleng grew increasingly concerned and decided to involve the community in a search for her.

“The friend looked suspicious and tired that morning. I thought he was high. I started to worry when I could not find Puseletso on the phone,” she recalled.

The search led to a gruesome discovery at the friend’s shack. They found Puseletso’s naked body under a bed, with stab wounds to her head and shoulder. Her three fingers were also severely injured, with the skin stripped off.

“I couldn’t believe what I was seeing,” said Itumeleng. “I knew this man would one day kill her because of how possessive he was of her. I wish she had listened to me when I told her to stay away from him.”

Itumeleng revealed that the friend physically and emotionally abused her cousin and also threatened to kill her after she obtained a protection order earlier in August. Despite the danger, Puseletso had not fully severed ties with the friend.

On the day Puseletso went missing, the friend reportedly told Itumeleng that an unknown car had picked her up. However, the friend’s behavior raised suspicions.

“The friend looked suspicious and tired that morning,” Itumeleng said. “I thought he was high.”

The Death Note

The tragedy deepened when a note was found next to Puseletso’s body, which read, “RIP Puseletso my love, shap baby.” The friend is currently missing, and the police have launched a manhunt to locate him.

Gauteng police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo confirmed that a murder case has been opened at Ga-Rankuwa Police Station.

“No arrests have been made yet. An investigation is underway,” he said.
