Family of Slain Drug Dealer ‘Killed’ on Sizok’thola Show Call For More Crew Members to be Arrested
The family of Robert Varrie, the alleged drug dealer who was tragically killed, is grappling with the loss and seeking justice in a case that revolves around the actions of the Sizok’thola crew.
Varrie, a father of eight, died after allegedly getting assaulted during an interrogation conducted by members of Moja Love’s controversial Sizok’thola show on July 19, 2022.
On Thursday, March 21, the family, accompanied by their private investigator, known as ABE, held a press briefing at the Golden Oakes Complex in Boksburg, Ekurhuleni.
Family Struggles with Grief and Demands Justice
During the briefing, Varrie’s sister expressed her haunting grief over her late brother’s demise. She shared her recurring dreams of him, where he appears to be fighting with his hands handcuffed.
The emotional sister revealed that her health has deteriorated due to the immense loss and expressed her deep love for her brother. Since 2023, she has been attending counselling sessions to cope with the pain.
The family’s private investigator stated that their primary objective is to seek justice for their son. He also highlighted the devastating impact the loss has had on Varrie’s mother.
ABE revealed that Varrie’s mother had five children, four girls and one boy, and losing her only son has been particularly challenging for her.
According to the Daily Sun, the family is urging for more arrests to be made in connection with the incident, firmly believing that Xolani Khumalo was not acting alone when the alleged assault occurred. They express concern that the case cannot proceed with Khumalo being the sole person in the accused’s box.
ABE emphasized the family’s desire to identify those who dropped Varrie’s body off at Thelle Mogoerane Regional Hospital in Vosloorus.
Arrests and Charges: Xolani Khumalo’s Involvement in the Case
Former Sizok’thola presenter Xolani Khumalo was arrested last year and is now facing charges of murder, robbery, and property damage in connection with the incident.
Xolani appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court on Thursday, February 22, where the case was postponed to April 11. The court ordered the TV show to provide video footage taken during the alleged drug dealer’s death.
Seeking Accountability: Family Calls for Further Investigation and Arrests
The family and their investigator maintain that a thorough and comprehensive investigation is crucial. They anxiously await the developments on April 11, understanding that the decision lies with the magistrates, who will determine the next steps in the case, including the possibility of further postponements to allow for additional police investigation.
