Residents of Samora Machel, Cape Town, are coming to terms with the discovery of a dead woman found seated on a toilet on Friday morning.
Cape Town Woman Found Dead Seated On A Toilet
The woman, identified as Buyiswa Jacobs, a 51-year-old mother of six children, was found at a house where she did not reside, raising questions about how she got there.
Buyiswa’s family, who live about two kilometres away, described her as responsible and dedicated, with no alcohol consumption habits. Actively involved in her community as a patroller, her sudden disappearance has devastated her family, who are desperate for answers.
Sergeant Wesley Twigg, spokesperson for the Western Cape Police, confirmed the opening of an inquest docket:
“Samora Machel police registered an inquest for investigation after the body of an unknown female was found inside a toilet in Samora Machel Road. A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death. We encourage anyone with any information about this incident to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111.”
Residents were shocked by the gruesome discovery, and Bongani Maqungwana, spokesperson for the Community Police Forum, expressed frustration and demanded clarity:
“The incident has left us with questions, and we are looking for answers,” said Maqungwana, echoing the sentiments of many in the community.

Family Seeks Answers
Buyiswa’s family is reeling from this heartbreaking loss. Her sister, Phumla Sam, told Ezitshisayo that she last saw her on Thursday, 21 March, the evening after her return from an ANC service delivery protest in Cape Town.
Suspecting foul play, Phumla believes Buyiswa may have been lured away by someone she knew. More questions arise about how Buyiswa ended up in a toilet within a well-fenced property.
