Former Bafana Bafana coach Stanley ‘Screamer’ Tshabalala is lucky to be alive after getting shot.

The Orlando Pirates technical director was shot during a house break-in at his home on Wednesday.

Stanley Tshabalala is currently recovering in hospital.

In a statement, a family spokesperson, Thato Matuka, said that the incident happened just after midday.

Former Bafana Bafana coach Stanley “Screamer” Tshabalala was shot following a house break-in at the Tshabalala residence yesterday, just after Midday,” reads part of the statement.

According to the family statement, the matter is already under investigation.

The matter is currently in the hands of the South African Police Services.”

Meanwhile, the family went on to thank members of the general public for the well wishes and also kindly requested privacy during this trying time.

The Tshabalala family would like to thank the public for their messages of support during this time and have asked for privacy while Bra Stan is recovering,” the statement read.
