Once a celebrated figure in the world of football, Chabangu’s journey from fame to financial ruin has left South Africa astounded. Here are some of the reactions from social media;

@ZeeRight;

Why was he sending money for his home loan to someone else instead of paying it directly to the bank or wherever? He’s dumb af

@makinkuna;

I watched this episode, apparently he had a good woman who had been with him before the fame, but he dropped her for a slay queen when the money started rolling in. Uyalayeka!!!

@BbwMaturity;

Blamed his losses on a woman…
That’s the problem here. You take a conscious decision to engage with whoever and blame them? Problem with these soccer players is they don’t listen to advice. No financial literacy, poor education, fast life and forget that their playing days are numbered. Clubs also must put in place strong nonnegotiable financial mentorship and training.

There’s nothing to feel sorry for, one bit, for this former footballer Lerato Chabangu, except only lessons. He isn’t a victim of any kind, God favoured him, gave him talent and the opportunity to earn money but be blew it
