The star revealed that she received royalties for the song and that she only got less than a rand. She was responding to a fan who asked if it was her voice on “Mayibabo”.
Speaking on her social media handle, the actress revealed:
“Yoh dawg, I fought for that song, hey. But anyway, I didn’t win. You don’t win all the battles in life. It’s fine. I’m trying to launch my own music, so it’s okay. I will get there,” she said with a giggle.
In another post, she revealed that she had to approach the Southern African Music Rights Organisation (SAMRO)so they credit her for the song. However, most of the money due to her went to Themba [DJ Maphorisa].
In total, she only got R0.59 for singing on the song:
“I was told by Nota the money was given to Themba. At least I got paid 59 cents after trying to get SAMRO to add my name.”
