Her last appearance in Uzalo will be between February and March next year.
Baby said she was taking a break to have enough time to focus on the new role.
“I’ll relocate from KZN to Jsbis- fora new drama shoot and have more time for me and my family,” she said.
“Those who’re too fast to spread news about my character are spoiling my surprises and the fun.” She said she’ll make a surprise comeback at the end of next year.
“My fans should calm down. I’ll still appear on their favourite soapie until the beginning of next year and disappear for a while and return.”
She said her bosses were good to her.
“I’d like to thank Stained Glass Productions for giving me a break on a daily soapie and time to heal,” she said.
In a statement provided to TshisaLIVE, the show’s producers said: “Baby Cele and Sivabonga Shibe will be leaving Uzalo by the end of season six. The story has taken this direction and will give us a riveting, high-stakes ending for both characters.
“The decision was made in consultation with the two actors. Both have given a tremendous amount to their roles on Uzalo and we are forever grateful for that. We will be introducing a host of new characters played by SA’s best. Please stay tuned and see as the story unfolds.”
The news of the actors’ departure comes as a shock to some viewers as Siyabonga was rumoured to have been fired from the soapie back in June, but he vehemently denied the reports.
