Gloria Bosman Memorial Service Details Announced
The details for the memorial service to honour the life of Gloria Bosman, a famous jazz musician, have been announced.
The singer will be remembered with a celebration at Soweto Theatre in Jabulani today [Friday] at 3 pm. The Southern African Music Rights Organization (Samro) confirmed this development to TshisaLIVE.
On 14 March, Mzansi plunged into mourning as multi-award-winning South African jazz singer Gloria Bosman died.She was 50.
The cause of death has not yet been revealed to the public.
Meanwhile, people on social media, including fans and colleagues who worked with Gloria, still pour in condolence messages.
Vinny Nogemane, a radio presenter for Algoa FM, spoke to eNCA about his interview with a famous star before she passed away. On that day, Gloria was pencilled to perform at the East London Guild Theatre for the third Annual Restoration In Jazz Tribute & Fundraiser Concert, a celebration of the life of a late jazz bassist, Lulama Gaulana.
“She’s always been an amazing performer and master of her craft … having her speak so patiently, speak so passionately about her involvement and engagement with young children in terms of the future of South African music was very touching on Friday.”
Damon Forbes, the director of Breakout and Healthwell, remembers when he first saw Bosman before fame and how she eventually became a star.
“When [I was] at Sheer [music label] we found and developed lots of talent through the 90s and 2000s and Gloria was really an amazing artist. It was an honour to have worked with her for six albums, many concerts and awards. Thank you to Gloria for all that she gave to all of us. May she live on through her music,” he told TshisaLIVE.
