Gogo Skhotheni’s Baby Dies After Prolonged Health Struggles
In a heartbreaking turn of events, DJ and sangoma Gogo Skhotheni’s three-year-old son, Monde Junior has died.
The young boy, who had been battling severe health issues since birth, passed away yesterday at Busamed Modderfontein Private Hospital.

A Mother’s Grief: Gogo Skotheni Confirms Son’s Death
Confirming the tragic news to Zimoja, Gogo Skhotheni shared in a statement that her baby died yesterday afternoon.
“It is with profound sadness that the Motsoeneng and Shange families confirm the passing of Monde Jr Shange. Monde Jr departed this life at 15:00 on Monday, September 2nd, 2024.”
She also emphasized the family’s need for privacy during this incredibly difficult time, asking for compassion and understanding as they grieve their deep loss.

A History of Health Struggles
Gogo Skhotheni has been open in the past about the numerous health challenges her son faced. On his second birthday, she shared a heartfelt message that shed light on the long and arduous journey they had been through.
“Monde Jr, you’ve been at that hospital bed ever since. You know all the nurses, doctors, and cleaners; we are now planning your second birthday. Are you still there?” she expressed, highlighting the constant medical battles they faced since his premature birth.
Monde Jr was born after a seven-month pregnancy, and almost immediately, his life was fraught with challenges. After struggling to breathe, he was rushed to the ICU just two hours after his birth.
Gogo Skhotheni revealed that her son was born without the tube that transports food to the stomach, leading to numerous surgeries and the need for a machine to help him eat.
The Strain on Family Life
The journey has not only been tough on Monde Jr but has also taken a toll on Gogo Skhotheni’s family life. For nearly two years, Monde Jr had been in the intensive care unit, with his mother by his side, enduring a relentless emotional and physical struggle. Additionally, her relationship with Monde Shange has been tumultuous, marred by allegations of abuse and separation.
