Gospel Fraternity Mourns as Abanqobi Founder Sbusiso Zulu Passes Away
Sbusiso Zulu, the founder and lead singer of the renowned Abanqobi Gospel Group has passed away.
Zulu passed away on Thursday afternoon, with the cause of his death yet to be revealed.

Heartfelt Announcement from His Wife
Zulu’s wife, Zinhle Malinga-Zulu, took to social media on Friday morning to announce the devastating news. In her emotional post, she expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support but asked for privacy during this difficult time.
“It is with great sadness to announce the departure of my husband, Sbusiso Zulu, who passed [away] yesterday at 2.30pm
“I have been receiving messages and calls, ngiyabonga kakhulu [thank you]. But I would appreciate some space and privacy during this time. Thank you so much [sic]. Details will follow during the course of the week.

Tributes Pour In for the Gospel Leader
Since the news broke, messages of condolences have flooded in from friends, colleagues, and fans, all deeply affected by Zulu’s passing.
Members of the gospel music industry and the Abanqobi Gospel Group shared their heartbreak at the sudden loss.
Sphamandla Gumbi, a member of the Abanqobi Gospel Group, expressed his shock and grief over Zulu’s passing.
“As Abanqobi Gospel Group, we lost not just a member but a brother. He’s done a lot for the group, and he will always be in our hearts. May his soul rest in peace,” Gumbi said.
Fellow gospel artist Gah Ndlela also shared his sorrow, saying,
“It is sad and shocking to receive such news of your passing, my brother Sbu Zulu, a member of Abanqobi Gospel Group. Strength to Mrs. Zinhle Malinga-Zulu and Abanqobi.”
