Challenges Behind the Scenes

Since its debut, Gqeberha: The Empire has faced a series of controversies, including disputes over accommodations, funding issues, and the departure of cast and crew members. According to a cast member who spoke anonymously to ZiMoja, the cancellation was for the best given the difficulties on set.

“It’s really been tough for us, but we always tried to think positive and deliver,'” the actor shared before adding, “A lot has happened behind the scenes; it seems this is the best decision. We need a better production for the Eastern Cape that is of high quality like other shows.”
