Gugu Gumede Breaks Her Silence On NFP Presidency Claims: Is She Ready To Fill Her Mother’s Shoes?
Actress Gugu Gumede, who is popularly known as MaMlambo on soapie Uzalo, may be selected as the next president of the National Freedom Party following the recent passing of her mother, Zanele Magwaza-Msibi.
NFP party members have been circulating posters on social media featuring Gugu Gumede’s face, as they hope she will succeed her late mother as the party’s leader.
Gugu Gumede Responds To NFP Members Campaigning On Her Behalf
Since the passing of Zanele Magwaza-Msibi in September 2021, the National Freedom Party (NFP) has not yet elected a new president.
With the party’s upcoming elective conference, there are reports that 31-year-old Gugu Gumede has been nominated for the position.
Furthermore, some party members have even begun campaigning on her behalf.
However, when Daily Sun spoke to Gugu, she said that she is not aware of any campaigns for her to run for president.
“I’m incredibly flattered that the people of the NFP would deem me worthy to follow and fill such gigantic shoes.
“However, although I remain a faithful member of the NFP, I have neither been approached officially nor have I taken this into consideration,” she said.
According to an anonymous NFP member, Gugu Gumede is seen as the ideal candidate to take over from Zanele Magwaza-Msibi and prevent any divisions within the party.
New Mom Vibes
In February of last year, Gugu Gumede welcomed her first child, a baby girl. This happened five months after the passing of her mother.
“My baby, you are your grandmother’s answered prayer. She was so excited to meet you; even though you did not get to meet in the physical realm, I know she is currently holding you in the spiritual,” she wrote on her Instagram when her daughter arrived.
