Local authorities are currently investigating a horrifying case of murder that transpired in Ga-Mampa village, located in the Mecklenburg policing area outside Sekhukhune. The incident unfolded on Sunday around 9 pm and involved a 37-year-old son who allegedly assaulted and killed his 77-year-old mother following a heated argument over loud music.
The victim was found lying unconscious on the floor, bleeding profusely, at their residence after the tragic event. According to police reports, the elderly woman was in the company of her 17-year-old grandson when the suspect arrived, playing music at an excessively high volume.
Escalation of Violence
Police spokesperson Brig Hlulani Mashaba detailed that the situation escalated when the woman reprimanded her son for the loud music. In response, the son allegedly became aggressive and physically attacked his mother. The grandson attempted to intervene, but he too fell victim to assault. Seeking help, the grandson rushed to neighbours for assistance.
Law enforcement was promptly alerted, and upon arrival at the scene, they discovered the victim lying unconscious and bleeding heavily. Tragically, emergency medical personnel pronounced the woman dead on the scene. The alleged perpetrator had already fled, prompting the police to open a murder case.

Police Condemn Gender-Based Violence
Limpopo police commissioner Lt-Gen Thembi Hadebe strongly condemned the incident, emphasizing the severity of gender-based violence and attacks on elderly individuals. She called on the community to reject violence as a means of resolving domestic challenges and urged them to seek amicable resolutions to conflicts.
