Dj Fresh’s Ex-wife and Veteran Broadcaster Thabiso Sikwane Die on the Day of Her 50th Birthday Celebration
In a heartbreaking twist of fate, veteran broadcaster Thabiso Sikwane passed away on the very day she was set to celebrate her 50th birthday. Despite turning 50 in July, Sikwane had scheduled her milestone birthday celebration for August 31. Sadly, she never got to enjoy the event, as she passed away just hours before it was to take place.

Family Confirms Thabiso Sikwane’s Death
Prolific media personlaity Thabiso Sikwane passed away in the early hours of Saturday morning.
In a statement, Thabiso’s family expressed their deep sorrow over her sudden passing.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Thabiso, whose dedication and passion for Christ, family life, and the Media & Entertainment industry left an indelible mark on colleagues and audiences alike,” the statement read.
The family highlighted her illustrious career, noting,
“During her time on Radio & TV, she produced, hosted, and covered significant events, shaped narratives, and inspired many. We are deeply saddened by this loss and pray her legacy will continue to inspire future generations.”
Belated Birthday Celebration Ends in Tragedy
Sikwane family spokesperson Thami Ngubeni revealed that Thabiso had planned to celebrate her 50th birthday on August 31, after originally turning 50 in July.
“It was a belated birthday celebration scheduled yesterday [Saturday] in Johannesburg. Thabiso turned 50 on July 3. She was on a missionary trip, and she decided to celebrate her birthday in the service of the Lord,” Ngubeni told SMag.
However, the celebrations took a tragic turn when Thabiso suddenly fell ill on August 28.
“She was admitted to the hospital after feeling unwell and transitioned to glory in the early hours of Saturday morning, August 31,” Ngubeni added.

Unconfirmed Cause of Death
While the cause of Thabiso Sikwane’s death has not yet been officially confirmed, her ex-husband DJ Fresh suggested that a cardiac event might be involved.
“We are told it could be a cardiac event, but what would have caused it has not been ascertained. So, we await a postmortem that will give everyone clarity,” DJ Fresh explained.
