Three heartless women pretended to be mourners and went on to rob a bereaved family of money and jewellery at a funeral.

The crime occurred on Wednesday in Sanford, Phoenix, outside Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, while the mourning family was preparing to bury their loved one.

Zimoja reported that the three women, dressed in black and carrying Bibles, entered the house by pretending to offer condolences. The grieving family, unsuspecting and vulnerable, welcomed the women into their home, believing they had come to offer prayers and support.

However, the women had a far more sinister motive. Soon after being welcomed inside, the fake mourners pulled out guns, tied the hands of three relatives behind their backs, and locked them in a room.

The brazen thieves then proceeded to ransack the house, stealing valuables before making their escape.
