Friend Reveals What Happened Before Mpho Sebeng Died In An Accident
Mpho Sebeng’s friend, Mpho Masiu, has revealed some details of what happened hours before the actor died. She shared screenshots of their chats hours before the tragic crash that killed him.
Sebeng, who lives in Johannesburg, travelled to the North West Province on Saturday afternoon. Before setting out for the journey, Sebeng told Masiu, a film writer, producer and director, that he was visiting her area and would like to see her.
Masiu was amenable to the meetup and told the actor she would attend the church that night until 7.30 pm. Before 4.30 pm, Sebeng was on the way and was already in the North West at sunset.
However, something happened, and the two could not meet. When she reached out at 7.25 am on 5 May to ask if he had travelled safely, Sebeng did not respond. He was probably dead by then.

Mpho Masiu was inconsolable:
“I don’t know how to process this loss. I want it to be a lie so badly because a part of me feels like I could’ve turned things around, and maybe things would have been different had I just left my house, regardless of all the limits I had, to go see you. I’ll never get the chance to see you again. Maybe you wanted to say goodbye, or better yet, you would still be with us.
“I’m mourning you differently because I carry so much guilt. I was probably one of the last people you texted and called. I don’t usually post RIP messages. BUT you broke my heart, Abuti. If I regret one thing in my lifetime, it’s last night. And I can never be able to fix it 💔”
