House Of Zwide Star Nefisa Mkhabela Cracks the Code to Adulting by Gifting Her Mom a House at 19
She is the face of Onalerona Molapo, a young lady chasing her dreams in the fashion industry, on the popular e.tv soapie House of Zwide.
But Nefisa Mkhabela is more than just an actress. She is also a daughter, a niece, a dancer and a woman of God. And she has a heart of gold.
Nefisa Mkhabela Bought Her Mom A House At 19
When she was only 19 years old, she surprised her mom with a new house as a birthday gift. She revealed this on DJ Sbu’s YouTube podcast Hustlers’ Corner.
Nefisa’s mom has been her biggest supporter and inspiration since she was born in Soweto, Gauteng, in 2001. She encouraged her to pursue her passion for acting and cultural studies. Nefisa attended Greenside High School in Randburg, Gauteng, where she obtained a certificate in Traditional Dance.
Her Dream Television Journey
Nefisa told DJ Sbu that she first appeared on television while she was in Grade 8 in a Ferguson Films production.
“I was a child, and I didn’t know what was happening. I wasn’t educated about what happens on set. So, for me at the time, it was genuinely just about enjoying the moments I had there.”
She then landed the role of Ona on House of Zwide after auditioning online.
She said she was shocked and grateful when she got the email that she got the job. She also said she fell on her knees, cried and prayed. She described her role as a “dream”.
Ona is the daughter of Funani Zwide, South Africa’s most prominent fashion icon, played by Vusi Kunene. However, she does not know her true identity and faces many challenges and enemies in the fashion industry.
Nefisa is also related to another media personality, Kedebone Mkhabela, who is a radio presenter at Rise FM. She is her niece.
