According to law enforcement, the event unfolded over the weekend in the Maake policing area. The accused reportedly confronted his wife about their marital issues, which led to a visit to the victim’s residence.
Details of the Shooting
Lieutenant-Colonel Stephen Thakeng shared insights into the case, stating,
“The suspect and his wife reportedly had a heated argument about their relationship troubles. They then went to the alleged lover’s home, where the tragic incident occurred.”
Upon arriving at the victim’s home, the door was opened, and the suspect allegedly fired a shot, causing the victim to collapse. Emergency medical services were called to the scene, where they confirmed the man’s death.
“The suspect later surrendered himself to the Maruleng satellite police station, and his firearm was confiscated,” Lieutenant-Colonel Thakeng added. The identity of the victim is currently being withheld as investigations continue.

Police Investigation and Public Appeal
The police have opened a murder case, and the suspect is expected to appear in court soon. Limpopo Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Thembi Hadebe condemned the incident, urging couples to resolve their disputes through peaceful and constructive communication instead of resorting to violence.
Separate Incident: Young Girl’s Body Found in Shallow Grave
In a separate and equally disturbing case, a man from the North West province has been handed over to the police by his own brother after being implicated in the death of a 16-year-old girl. The young girl’s body was discovered buried in a shallow grave in Matlhako 2 village, Potchefstroom, over the weekend.
Authorities received a tip-off from a local informant, who reported hearing a woman crying in a neighbour’s house. Shortly afterwards, the suspect was allegedly seen pushing a wheelbarrow containing a suspicious object.
Discovery of the Body
Police conducted a search operation based on the information provided. Their investigation led them to a shallow grave near a stream, where a wheelbarrow and a spade were found. After mobilizing resources, the body was exhumed and identified as that of Boingotlo Makaota, a 16-year-old girl from Matlhako 2 village.
The body showed visible head injuries as well as bruises on the legs and thighs, according to preliminary investigations. Family members, including the victim’s uncle, positively identified the remains.

Suspect in Custody
The 40-year-old suspect, who has been linked to the girl’s disappearance and murder, is now in police custody. He is expected to make his first court appearance in the coming days as investigations continue into this harrowing crime.
