Born on 19 January 1996, Jankto is a skilled footballer who plays in the midfield position. He’s a valuable player for the Czech First League team Sparta Prague, currently on loan from La Liga’s Getafe. He also proudly represents the Czech Republic national team.
Udinese Beginnings and Loan Moves
Jankto‘s journey took off in 2014 when he moved from Slavia Prague to Udinese for around €700,000. Although he didn’t play in the league for Udinese right away, he gained experience through loan moves. In 2015, he joined Serie B’s Ascoli on loan.
Making His Mark at Ascoli
On 15 September 2015, Jankto had a memorable moment as he made his professional league debut for Ascoli in a 1–0 victory against Virtus Entella.
Sampdoria Adventure Begins
Fast forward to 6 July 2018, Jankto made his way to Sampdoria. He initially joined on loan, and the club had the option to buy him permanently for €15 million. On 12 August 2018, he scored his first goal for Sampdoria in a 1–0 Coppa Italia triumph over Viterbese, eventually sealing a permanent transfer.
Spanish and Homecoming Spells
Jankto’s journey continued as he signed a two-year contract with La Liga’s Getafe CF on 20 August 2021. However, on 10 August the following year, he secured a one-year loan to return to his home country with Sparta Prague.

Beyond his accomplishments on the field, Jankto made history on 13 February 2023. He courageously came out as homosexual, becoming the first actively playing international male footballer to openly acknowledge his sexuality. This marked a significant step forward for inclusivity in football.
