‘I’m Not Marrying Jacob Zuma’: Gugu Gumede Sets the Record Straight
Mzansi was left puzzled after a video surfaced of Gugu Gumede, known for playing Mamlambo on Uzalo, announcing her upcoming wedding next month.
The video, shared on Facebook, showed Gugu expressing heartbreak over her mother’s alleged passing just before her big day. It was captioned with the emotional message, “Next month is my wedding, and you’re no more,” and featured the sound of a crying baby in the background.
The clip also included a photo of Gugu posing with former president Jacob Zuma, sparking speculation that she might be marrying him.

However, Gugu Gumede has come forward to set the record straight. She revealed that the video was posted by someone impersonating her through a fake Facebook account. She stated that she was unaware of the video but was familiar with numerous fake accounts impersonating her.
“I have many accounts that are fake. People create content using my name,” she said.
She added that these imposters don’t realize the harm they are causing to her reputation.
Some are bored, and don’t know how much damage they’re causing. It’s a pity there are still people who believe the accounts are real. These accounts have thousands of followers and it’s unfortunate,” Gugu said.

Gugu Gumede Warns Fans Against Fake Accounts
Gugu emphasised that she only uses social media to share updates about her work, not her personal life.
“If I’m really getting married, I wouldn’t share the news on social media. I only share my work stuff and promotions. I also share my weight loss journey and give tips and hope to those who wish to lose weight. Social media users who are following us must be careful and differentiate between real and fake,” she explained.
Her mother passed away in September 2022 at the age of 59 after suffering from a stroke that left her in a wheelchair.
