Is Seputla Sebogodi Engaged?

The River’s Mohumi and former Generations actor Seputla Sebogodi is rumored to be engaged. Pictures of the 60-year-old actor publicly displaying affection with his alleged new lover have been circulating heavily on social media resulting in “Kenneth Mashaba” trending at the number one spot in South Africa. The young woman pictured with Seputla on several occasions is a Limpopo-born aspiring singer, actress, and poet rumored to be 29 years old. She posted a tweet of their pictures together with the caption “beautiful weekend

It didn’t take long for tweeps to start making comparisons between Seputla and Kenneth Mashaba, criticizing the 30-year age gap between the lovebirds. Kenneth Mashaba was a character portrayed by Seputla on the popular SABC 1 soapie Generations, a greedy and ruthless businessman attracted to younger women and ended up marrying the much younger Dineo “Dinny” Mashaba played by Gomora’s Katlego Dankie.

This is not the first time the public makes a comparison between the actor and his onscreen life. After what is believed to be four failed marriages, tweeps were reminded of another iconic character played by Seputla, the philandering Nkwešeng Madima from the 90’s Northern Sotho TV2 drama Bophelo Ke Semphekgo. Seputla took over the role after original actor Patrick Shai refused to reprise his role apparently due to pay disputes. Nkušeng was a lady’s man entangled in a love “square” involving three beautiful women Matete (Rinkie Tleane), Senthaolele (Nakedi Ribane), and Samantha (Julia Maepa).

Some tweeps made light of the issue and here is what some had to say:

@mogausebeka Na Nkwesheng o sa jola? Bathong. This will end in tears. Bophelo ke semphekgo.

@JOCHA__ Nothing to see here…just two lovebirds enjoying their lives…cheers to Smiling face with smiling eyes.
