It seems like some actors of the long-running Mzansi Magic have already moved on to the next gig, now that Isibaya is officially cancelled this year.

Nomsa Philiso who is the channel director released a statement to the media a while ago and said:

“It’s always sad when a show that was popular and loved ends, as is the case with Isibaya.

However, times change and television is about adopting and adapting. As Mzansi Magic, we are thrilled about the new partnership with Black Brain Productions. They will be bringing in fresh content that is innovative and captivating. Every year before we recommission the great shows broadcast on Mzansi Magic, we conduct a review of all shows, using a variety of metrics as standard practice in the industry to ensure that the decision to renew contacts is well informed,”

Nomsa added that the other exciting element is that this is their first telenovela production. “It is a great opportunity for Black Brain to broaden its base and creativity. Our platforms are fundamentally created to help producers grow and reach new frontiers.”

Some actors from Isidingo and Isibaya will be starring in the upcoming Clive Morris production from April

The Estate is a Clive Morris production that has replaced the canned long-running SABC soapie, Isidingo is already in production and will premier in April.

Rumors that Isibaya was in trouble first started to swirl last year, however, M-Net would neither confirm nor deny it at the time. It is believed that Isibaya will be replaced by a new novella called Diepsloot as Mzansi Magic canned the show after eight years.

Isibaya cast members who have booked roles on the upcoming SABC 3, Clive Morris production show include Clementine Mosimane, Aubrey Poo, and Linda Sebezo.

Aubrey Poo played the role of Pastor Gabriel Mothusi on Isidingo and currently plays the role of a lawyer, Mfenyang on Isibaya, whilst Sebezo plays the role of Lillian Ngwenya.

Former Isidingo actor, Don Mlangeni Nawa who currently plays the role of John on The Legacy also bagged a role on the show, as well as Zenokuhle Maseko who played the role of Sindi Dlathu’s daughter, Mbali on The River.

Dineo Langa who was fired from The Queen will also be joining the cast. The actress will be joining Sdumo Mtshali who currently plays the role of Sbusiso Ndlovu on the Isibaya and Mpho Sibeko who is best known for his roles on Isono, Isithembiso, and Scandal.
