It Never Rains But Pours For Lebo M: US Revokes His Passport Over Tax Evasion Amid Divorce Drama
Lebohang “Lebo M” Morake, a Grammy award-winning producer who is famous for his work on The Lion King, is facing legal troubles in the US over his tax debt. According to a letter from the US consulate-general’s office in Sandton, Johannesburg, Morake has been asked to return his US passport and his Green Card, which have been revoked due to his “seriously delinquent tax debt”. The letter does not reveal how much Morake owes to the Internal Revenue Services (IRS), but warns him that any further use of his US passport is a felony. Morake, who is currently in South Africa, has not commented on this matter.
This is not the only headache for Morake, who also announced this week that he is headed for divorce court for the fifth time. He said he has instructed his attorneys to issue divorce summons to his wife Pretty Samuels-Morake, whom he married in 2020. He did not elaborate on the reasons for the divorce, but said he will not be drawn into salacious allegations and innuendos about his personal and business life.
Morake has a history of failed marriages and relationships. His first wife was Viveca Gipson, whom he married in 1995 and divorced in 2000. His second wife was Nandi Ndlovu, whom he married in 2001 and divorced in 2012. His third wife was Angela Ngani-Casara, whom he married in 2008 and divorced in 2013. He then got engaged to actress Zoe Mthiyane in 2014, but they broke up in 2016. He remarried Ngani-Casara in 2017, but they divorced again later that year. He then married Samuels-Morake in 2020, but they are now heading for divorce as well.
Morake is one of the most successful and respected producers in the world, having won a Grammy award and an Oscar nomination for his work on The Lion King. He has also worked on other projects such as The Power of One, Back on the Block, and Rhythm of the Pride Lands. However, his personal life seems to be less stable and more turbulent than his professional one.
