Julius Malema Relieved After Floyd Shivambu’s Exit: “It Lifted a Heavy Load”

EFF leader Julius Malema shared his real feelings regarding the recent departure of his former deputy, Floyd Shivambu, during an interview with Clement Manyathela on SABC’s Face the Nation on Tuesday night. Shivambu, a founding member of the party, resigned last month to join Jacob Zuma’s MK Party as its national organiser.

EFF Thriving Without Shivambu

While acknowledging that Shivambu’s resignation was painful, Malema admitted that it felt like a heavy burden had been lifted from his shoulders.

“I don’t know why, but it is not always that bad things will always produce bad results. Perhaps at times, they do produce very good results,” he said.

Malema emphasised that the EFF is thriving despite Shivambu’s departure.

“I am doing very well. The leadership of the EFF remains intact. We are fine. We are rocking,” he said confidently.

Julius Malema Speaks on His Friendship with Floyd Shivambu

He made it clear that his relationship with Shivambu is over.

“I don’t have a relationship with him. What brought us together was a common purpose. We met in the trenches. We didn’t meet at university, club or church. What brought us together was sharing the common agenda for the revolution; once we see things differently, there is no need for a relationship between us,” he said.

He added that the EFF’s success does not depend on Shivambu’s presence.

Clarifying the Offer for Shivambu’s Return

When asked why he had offered Shivambu the chance to return to the EFF, even though it was against the party’s constitution, Malema explained that it was a gesture of goodwill.

“I said that to show that I have nothing against the guy. Even if he calls me tomorrow, I will show up. But we are all governed by the constitution of the party,” said Malema.
